Durham police investigate homicide

DURHAM

Officers responded to a "motor vehicle accident with injuries" at the intersection of Old Oxford Highway and Danube Lane around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.

When they arrived, officers say they found several damaged motor vehicles in the roadway. They saw a man lying inside one of the motor vehicles.

Police say it appeared that the man had been shot in the chest at Danube Lane and Belvin Avenue and his vehicle continued down the road.

The man's vehicle struck two other motor vehicles at the intersection of Old Oxford Highway before coming to a stop. He was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency medical personnel.

The victim's name is not being released at this time, pending notification of family members. The occupants of the other two vehicles were treated at the scene for minor injuries and released.

Investigators do not have any motive or suspect descriptions and the incident is under investigation.
