Christian Ventura is charged with DWI and driving without a license. Investigators say he pulled out in front of a police cruiser.
It happened late Tuesday night at South Miami Boulevard and Laurel Drive.
Officials say an officer in his cruiser was traveling eastbound on South Miami Boulevard when a 1993 Mercury Cougar vehicle pulled out into the travel lane from Laurel Drive attempting to make a left turn onto South Miami Boulevard. That's when the two vehicles collided.
Five man were inside the Mercury, and four were transported to Duke Hospital with injuries. A 15-year-old passenger in Ventura's car remains in serious critical condition and the others received minor injuries from the accident. The officer is okay.Both vehicles involved in the traffic accident were totaled.
