The affected items are the 6-pound Sezchaun Chicken Salad and the Honey, Fruit and Nut Chicken Salad. Each package has "P-18799" written inside the /*USDA*/ inspection mark and a sell by or best before date between May 2 and 7.
Customers can return those products to their local Harris Teeter store and be reimbursed double the cost of the salads.
The maker of the products, Jamaica, N.Y.-based Gourmet Boutiques, announced a recall of 286,320 pounds of fresh and frozen meat and poultry products that might be contaminated with the Listeria monocytogenes bacteria. The salads were prepared between April 19 and 24.
The federal Food Safety and Inspection Service has received no reports of illnesses associated with this recall.
Listeria is an uncommon but potentially fatal disease, whose symptoms are high fever, severe headache, neck stiffness and nausea.
