Lawmaker proposes gas tax holiday

RALEIGH State Representative Joe Boylan is expected to introduce a new bill calling for suspending our state's gas tax for 90-days, starting June 15th.

The move would save the owner of a vehicle with a 20-gallon tank about $6 on each fill-up. It would cost the state approximately $425 million dollars in lost revenue.

Now the gas tax is a little over .30-cents per gallon.

North Carolina has the sixth highest gas tax in the country.
