The state supreme court is siding with parents in their battle over mandatory year-round school in Wake County.

On Thursday, the high court blocked an appeals court ruling saying the district does not need parental consent to send children to year-round school.

That means the appeals court ruling will not take effect until the supreme court decides if it will hear the case.
