Eyewitness News' Summer of Savings series

Even in the tough economic times, you can beat boredom without breaking the bank. There are ways for the family to do a lot --and save a lot-- if you just know where to go.

Like Marquee Cinemas in North Raleigh, where the 2008 Kids Summer Movie Series runs every Tuesday and Wednesday morning at 9:30 a.m.

Bee Movie, Alvin and the Chipmunks, and more are all free for the whole family. But patrons will tell you, its first come first served, so get there early!

Regal movie theaters have a similar deal called the Free Family Film Festival.

Every Tuesday and Wednesday throughout the summer, people of all ages can come on in. Showtime's are at 10 a.m.

Taking the family out to eat doesn't have to break the bank either.

For example, every Tuesday is kids day at Moe's Southwest Grill --that's a meal, drink and dessert for just 99 cents.

CHICK-FIL-A also has a similar deal on Tuesday nights between 5 and 8 p.m., kid's meals are free with the purchase of an adult meal.

Children also eat free at Bear Rock Cafe Mondays after 5 p.m. and all day Sunday when you buy a salad or sandwich.

Or, have breakfast for dinner at IHOP where kids can also eat free several times a week, depending on the location.

The list goes on --for more visit www.mykidseatfree.com , www.kiddiemenu.com and www.NCSingleParent.com ..

Most kids' menus are for children under 10 or 12-years-old..

It's also a good idea to call first since some deals vary by location..
