Suspect wanted in carjacking

RALEIGH At approximately 2:45 p.m. yesterday, the carjacking victim reported that he had just gotten back into his car after pumping gas at a convenience store at the intersection of Millbrook Road and Atlantic Avenue.

The suspect, who was armed with a handgun, entered the passenger's side of the vehicle and ordered the victim to drive from the store's parking lot and turn west onto Millbrook Road.

After traveling a short distance and reaching the intersection of Millbrook Road and Windy Hill Drive, the suspect robbed the victim of his wallet and fled in the vehicle. The suspect's weapon discharged during the course of the robbery, but the victim was not struck by bullet.

The suspect is described as a black male, perhaps in his early twenties, who stands about 6 feet tall and weighs an estimated 180 pounds. He was wearing a white t-shirt with black lettering and khaki-colored shorts that extended below his knees. The suspect also had a black nylon backpack with thin straps.

The stolen vehicle is light blue 1998 Nissan Sentra four-door sedan. The car's rear windows are tinted, and it has a hole in the windshield as a result of the shot fired during the robbery.
