According to the Moore County Sheriff's Office, it received a report on August 23 of a possible assault on a 7-month-old.
The Moore Count Department of Social Services contacted the sheriff's office while at a local hospital where the child was initially transported.
The infant appeared to have a head injury. The victim, Jacy Marcus Henderson-Bullard, was later taken to Wake Forest University Baptist Hospital where he died from his injuries.
On August 26, investigators arrested the infant's father, 17-year-old Jamie Marcus Bullard of Carthage.
He is charged with two counts of felony child abuse and murder. Bullard's first court date is September 15. He is being held in the Moore County Detention Center with no bond.
