Three arrested, charged with sexual assaults

Durham Police tell Eyewitness News that two underage girls were assaulted by three men at a home on Rome Avenue between 3:00 a.m. and 6:30 a.m. The victims were able to escape and contact police after the attacks.

Authorities surrounded the home on Rome Avenue and knocked on the door, but no one answered. That's when the situation was determined to be a subject barricaded and Durham's Selective Enforcement Unit responded, as well as a hostage negotiator.

After attempting to contact the suspect inside the home, officers gained forced entry using tear gas and a flash bang. The home was unoccupied.

One of the three suspects was already in custody and as police were clearing the scene, one of the other two outstanding suspects turned himself in to officers at the Lakewood Shopping Center.

Not long after police cleared the Rome Avenue scene, the third suspect returned to the area, where he was placed under arrest. No injuries were reported.

The two victims were taken to Duke Medical Center, with non-life threatening injuries.

Rome Avenue has many unoccupied homes, so evacuations were not needed. Two people near the home opted to stay inside their homes.

Eliverio Angeles Valentine, 20, is charged with first degree forcible rape and two counts of contributing to a delinquency of a minor.

Eval Noe Valladaros, 29, is charged with two counts of contributing to delinquency of a minor.

A third suspect is charged with first degree forcible rape, first degree kidnapping and two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

The ages of the victims have not been released, but they are under 18-years-old. The investigation into the attacks is ongoing.
