Former Yancy's employee claims sexual harassment

RALEIGH

The lawsuit was filed in October, but the summons was served Friday.

The US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission is suing on behalf of a former female employee.

According to the lawsuit, a female server said she and other female employees were harassed sexually by two male employees, creating a sexually hostile work environment.

Court documents state, "The harassment included unwelcome sexual comments about the women's bodies and their appearance, as well as groping and inappropriate touching."

The experience resulted in but is not limited to "emotional pain, suffering, inconvenience, loss of enjoyment of life, humiliation, loss of self esteem, loss of civil rights and other non-pecuniary losses, in amounts to be determined at trial."

Yancy's, which used to be located in downtown Raleigh on Fayetteville St., closed after filing for bankruptcy in July.
