According to an Alamance Highway Patrol spokesperson, bus driver Steven West of Fayetteville was making a turn while heading east on Hwy 70 when he turned too wide and drove into ditch.
The back end of the bus was blocking westbound traffic. West attempted to back up out of the ditch, but cars kept passing him.
William Adcock Sr., 64, of Mebane hit the back of the bus with his Honda and killed on impact.
According to Gray's Creek Athletic Director Mark Pepper, the activity bus had 16 cheerleaders and three others on board. None of them were hurt.
Investigation ongoing and charges are pending. The case is being brought to DA's office on Monday.
