Thursday's rain helped drought

All the rain that we got Thursday helped the stubborn drought in North Carolina's mountain region.The National Weather Service says some areas got more than three inches of rain. The National Weather Service said 2.4 inches fell in Hendersonville. 1.16 inches was recorded in Asheville, and 1.7 inches was recorded in Charlotte.

The North Carolina Drought Management Council says 11 counties in southwestern North Carolina are listed in exceptional drought. Three mountain counties are in extreme drought and eight others are in severe drought.
