New option for cable, Internet customers

RALEIGH

AT&T's U-verse is an alternative to cable television and Internet. AT&T is the only national service to offer a 100 percent IP-based television service.

Customers will be able to enjoy 100 percent digital television programming, DVR, interactive features and more than 85 high-definition channels.

Neighborhoods in Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill, Cary and Garner can begin receiving U-verse today.

Specific Triangle subdivisions where U-verse is available are not being named publicly. Instead, AT&T is informing households via the mail.

Service to additional neighborhoods will be offered in the future. However, additional dates and the names of neighborhoods have not been released at this time.

AT&T expects to sign up 1 million U-verse customers nationally by the end of this year.
