The Durham location will cut 50 jobs and the company will close labs in Dallas, Texas; Allentown, Pa.; and Hamilton, Ontario.
Qualex is a subsidiary of Eastman Kodak Co.
Kodak spokesman Christopher Veronda said Qualex is getting out of the photofinishing business because of declining demand. Most stores no longer send customers' film to a lab, but instead process it onsite.
About 20 people will stay in Durham to work in a Qualex division that offers theme picture taking at theme parks, malls and special events.
