Thousands in Charlotte for UNC game

The City of Charlotte is rerouting traffic downtown as thousands flood into the city for the sold out Meineke Car Care Bowl.The game Saturday pits The University of North Carolina Tar Heels against the West Virginia Mountaineers.

A downtown pep rally Friday added to the traffic jams, and many who normally work in the city were given the day after Christmas off.

UNC represents the Atlantic Coast Conference, the Mountaineers the Big East Conference.

North Carolina finished the season with an 8-4 overall record (4-4 in the ACC, tied for second in the Coastal Division. West Virginia finished the regular season with an 8-4 record (5-2 in the Big East, tied for second place).

Kickoff Saturday is at 1 p.m. The game will be televised live on ESPN.
