Police investigate hospital sex allegations

RALEIGH The State Bureau of Investigation is investigating and three male employees were fired Thursday.

Department of Health and Human Services spokesperson Renee McCoy said an internal investigation of the charges continues. She said officials determined the employees enabled the inmates to set up bank accounts, access e-mail and make unauthorized phone calls.

Correction Department spokesman Keith Acree said 13 inmates from the Raleigh Correctional Center for Women had been working at the hospital. All inmates have been removed from those assignments.
