SWAT team surrounds burglars

CHAPEL HILL Police arrested and charged three teens with breaking into a Chapel Hill drug store at the Eastgate Shopping Center.

Officers responded to a burglar alarm around 4 a.m. When they arrived, they found one suspect outside of the Rite Aid. The other two suspects were still inside the store. They surrendered to police a short time later without incident.

Investigators learned that the suspects entered the store through a vent in the building's roof.

Jacob Howard Lockerman, 18, of Clinton is charged with felony breaking and entering, damage to real property, conspiracy to commit a felony, possession of burglary tools and possession of a firearm with altered serial number. He is being held under $20,000 bond.

Christopher Proctor, 18, of Ahoskie and 19-year-old Tamyka Marie Steinbeck of Catawba are both charged with felony breaking and entering, damage to real property, conspiracy to commit a felony and possession of burglary tools. They are being held under $10,000 bond.
