Soldier's death ruled accidental

FAYETTEVILLE Sergeant Jason Lightfoot, 30, was a passenger in a Jeep driven by 39-year old Christine Pearce. Detectives say Lightfoot became belligerent towards Pearce, and she pulled off to the side of the All-American Freeway early Friday morning and told him to get out.

As she pulled back onto the road, Fayetteville police say Lightfoot jumped on the side of Pearce's Jeep and smashed the mirror with his fist. He then lost his grip and fell to the ground - hitting his head on the pavement.

Pearce then called 911, but Lightfoot was dead.

Detectives say they've ruled the incident an accidental death.
