Man arrested in double shooting

Police say they arrested a man who was involved in a shooting that injured a 9-year-old and a 19-year-old.According to Fayetteville police, an argument broke out between 21-year-old Phillip Lawson and an unidentified 19-year-old around 7 p.m. Tuesday.

The incident took place on Suzanne Street near Skibo Road.

Lawson is charged with six counts of attempted first-degree murder, shooting into occupied property and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill or inflict serious injury.

Police say the 19-year-old was in a vehicle with a 9-year-old, when Lawson pulled out a gun and shot several rounds into the vehicle. The 9-year-old is in stable condition.

The 19-year-old male was treated for a bullet graze to the cheek and released.

Police have not released the names of the victims, and the investigation is ongoing.
