Attorneys say they don't believe they have enough time to provide effective counsel for Atwater's criminal trial and his death penalty sentencing hearing, if he is found guilty.
It is not known when the judge will make a decision about the motion.
Atwater lawyers want trial postponed
GREENSBORO Demario Atwater's defense team filed a motion in federal court Wednesday requesting that his trial be delayed from November until at least May of next year.
