UNC trying to reclaim blood drive record

CHAPEL HILL In 1993, the school set the record for the largest, single-day, single-site blood drive in the state when it collected 1,052 pints at the annual Carolina Blood Drive.

However, Appalachian State University broke the record in September 2008 when it collected 1,060 pints.

The drive begins Tuesday at 7 a.m. at the Smith Center. It ends and 6 p.m. and the goal is to collect 1,100 pints.
