Dozens want Spring Lake PD job

SPRING LAKE According to the Fayetteville News and Observer, the job description is posted on several police websites and advises applicants that the Spring Lake Police Department "has fallen victim to mismanagement and possible corruption."

A consulting firm was hired to help find a new chief.

Cumberland County sheriff's deputies have handled law enforcement duties for the town since early May when a judge stripped the department of its powers.

That happened after two supervising officers were arrested on charges that included embezzlement and obstruction of justice.
