Gov. Perdue signs film credit bill

RALEIGH The bill will create a law that will increase the tax credit film and television production companies can receive if they work in North Carolina.

State film boosters have said the large credit is needed so NC can compete better with surrounding states for movie and TV deals.

Lawmakers sent Perdue 108 bills to consider at the close of the session. Perdue signed the first 22 into law on Wednesday.

She has until midnight Sept. 10 to sign or veto remaining bills.

Bills not considered by then will automatically become law without her signature.
