NC considered for new federal prison

PRINCESS ANNE, Md. The NC site would be in Winton, which is east of Roanoke Rapids.

The other site is on Maryland's Eastern shore in the Princess Anne area. Officials say they need a new facility to keep up with the demand for bed space.

The prison would house about 1,380 low-security prisoners from the Washington, D.C. area.
