Your Money: National Coupon Month

RALEIGH Cataldo saves 50 to 70 percent a week shopping for her husband and children on a list of goods and services, from oil changes, dry cleaning, restaurants and movies. She doesn’t just clip out of the book but goes to their online component, puts in her zip code, and prints coupons right off the website for things right in her neighborhood.

Cataldo also saves by combining coupons.

“If you look at the top of your coupons, it will say if it’s a store coupon or a manufacturer’s coupon. You can use them together," she explained.

For instance, if you have a $1 store coupon for dog food and a $2 manufacturer coupon on the same dog food, then you get $3 off on that same product.

Cataldo is seeing more coupons out there than ever before. She says manufacturers realize that people are trying to save, and it appears they’re offering even more ways to save, so it’s a great time to be a coupon shopper.
