Car hits school bus

WAKE FOREST It happened at the intersection of South Main Street and Selsey Drive in Wake Forest about a mile north of Capital Boulevard.

The driver of the car - 18-year-old Timothy Burnett - was rushed to the hospital, but his condition was not known immediately known. A relative said the teen was complaining of chest pains. It's not clear if those came before or after the impact.

A Wake County Public Schools spokesperson said the bus was headed to Wake Forest-Rolesville High School when it was rear-ended.

Three students in addition to Burnett were taken to the hospital with minor injuries. There were a total of 21 students on the bus.

Burnett was charged with failure to reduce speed to avoid a collision.
