Skeletal remains identified in Rocky Mount

ROCKY MOUNT Rocky Mount police said Elizabeth Smallwood was found in the 300 block of Melton Drive near the Tar River on February 13.

City workers cleaning up debris made the gruesome discovery.

Authorities said medical records helped identify her.

The 33-year-old is the sixth woman found dead in the county in recent years. Three other women are still missing.
