Two charged in police officer shooting

FAYETTEVILLE Authorities say the incident happened Friday night when officers responded to a call on Wynnwood Drive.

The suspects ran from the scene, and one managed to get a shot off at the officer chasing him.

Officer Mark Jodoin was hit in the hand, but was treated and released from Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

Authorities arrested 21-year-old Terell Cheatham and 25-year-old William Cowan. They are currently being held at the Cumberland County Detention Center.

Cheatham is charged with assault with a deadly weapon on a government official, second degree burglary, larceny after breaking and entering, and possession of stolen goods and/or property.

He is being held under a $125,000 secured bond.

Cowan is charged with larceny of a motor vehicle and possession of a motor vehicle.

He is being held under a $25,000 secured bond.

No further information has been released at this time. Officials say the investigation remains ongoing.
