DA to seek indictment in fatal Butner shooting

CREEDMOOR

Police say a fight broke out inside the restaurant between four men, 45-year-old Ronald Anderson Jr., 30-year-old Uriah Metcalf, 40-year-old Warren Owen, and Gwynn A. Bassinger. The four men, all from Granville County, then left the restaurant and went into the parking lot.

Detectives say the fight continued in the parking lot and shots were fired between Anderson Jr. and Metcalf. Anderson, a husband and father of three, was killed.

Officials say Bassinger and Metcalf are both Butner Federal Corrections Officers.

On Wednesday, investigators with Butner Public Safety and Granville County District Attorney Sam Currin announced their decision to seek a true bill of indictment against Metcalf on voluntary manslaughter in Anderson's death.

Authorities say the case will be heard by a Grand Jury.
