Fire damages Raleigh homes

RALEIGH

It all happened in the 5500 block of Bridford Place north of I-540 near Leesville Road.

Raleigh Fire officials say a possible electrical surge in the area caused the storage room of a home at 5528 Bridford Place to ignite. That fire caused minor damage.

However, a fire at 5532 Bridford Place, the home next door, caused much more significant damage. According to officials, that home is about a 50% loss.

Witnesses said the fire began in a garage area and spread around the front of the house and into the attic.

Neighbors say they heard two loud bangs before they ran outside to see what happened.

Both the Raleigh and Durham Highway fire departments were involved in the fire fight.
