Person of interest sought in police shooting

ROCKY MOUNT

It happened just before 7 p.m. at the Motel 6 on Wesleyan Boulevard in Rocky Mount last Sunday.

Police say they went to a report of a robbery involving three guests at the motel. Officers confronted suspect Johvoun Harvey outside the motel and that's when an officer shot him.

Harvey was taken to Nash General Hospital and subsequently Pitt Memorial Hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.

The NC State Bureau of Investigation is looking into the shooting and the officer involved is currently assigned to administrative duties pending the results of that investigation. That's standard procedure in officer involved shootings.

Police are looking for a second suspect, a woman, who was seen leaving the motel in a late model dark green Cadillac wearing a pink winter coat and glasses.

If anyone has information they're asked to call Rocky Mount police at (252) 972-1411.
