Man arrested in bank robbery no stranger to jail

RALEIGH Police say around 9:30 a.m. an armed and masked man robbed the bank and fled on foot.

Raleigh Police Department Public Information Officer Jim Sughrue said officers searched the area looking for the suspect when one officer spotted a man matching the suspect's description.

The man ran away from the officer and into a nearby restaurant.

K-9 and patrol officers arrested the man inside the restaurant and police determined he was the suspect who had robbed the bank.

The suspect, 42-year-old Xavier Hosea Shaw, was taken to the Wake County Jail. He is charged with one count of robbery with a dangerous weapon and one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Shaw was also served with an outstanding warrant, which charges him with assault on a female.

Shaw is no stranger to jail. Prosecutors say he just got out of prison after serving three years on robbery charges.
