More rain brings flooding concerns

A developing storm system is making its way into the area overnight into Tuesday.

ABC11 Eyewitness News Chief Meteorologist Chris Hohmann says to expect occasional rain, especially during the afternoon hours. Rain will continue through Tuesday evening with winds increasing after midnight.

With all the rain, people are keeping a close eye on rivers and streams.

The Army Corps of Engineers is monitoring water levels at Falls Lake.

Currently, the lake is about eight feet higher than normal.

Officials plan to gradually increase the discharge rate up to 3,000 cubic feet per second, up from the current 500. But they won't do that until they see how the rain impacts Neuse River levels.
