Police say officers responded to a shooting call on Glendower Rd. around 11:15 p.m. Monday.
The victim, 23-year-old George Devon White, was taken to WakeMed where he died.
A short time later, officers arrested the suspect in the 4800 block of Grove Barton Road. Michael Alexander Jones, 29, is charged with murder and he is being held in the Wake County Jail.
Police say the shooting happened at Jones' home. The investigation is ongoing.
