Officers discovered the body of 32-year-old Manuel Erazo Oseguera in the parking lot of the East Durham Tienda Latin American Foods store on Holloway Street just before 9 p.m.
He had been shot once in the chest and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators arrested and charged Romualdo Erazo Ruiz, 40, with Oseguera's murder.
Police do not believe that this was a random act and say the men knew one another.
