Last month, officials with Wake County Public Schools confirmed that the Fuquay-Varina High School women's coach was suspended with pay while they investigated sexual misconduct allegations.
Mardy Cutchin is accused of sending inappropriate text messages to a female player. He is now charged with a sex offense.
According to warrants, police have searched his home, SUV and seized his cell phone.
Police Captain Bob Adams told ABC11 that WCPSS contacted police and reported that someone came forward with the allegations. Adams says the person who reported the information was not the alleged victim.
Cutchin also teaches at Fuquay-Varina Middle School. He has been told he's not allowed on Wake County Public Schools property pending the outcome of the investigation.
