Climber survives 150-foot fall at NC park

Chris Stowe of Crowders Mountain Volunteer Fire and Rescue says the 23-year-old's climbing partner called for help, and emergency crews scaled 800 feet of rocky terrain to rescue the climber.

The injured man wasn't identified, but he suffered leg injuries and was flown to a Charlotte hospital.

More than 5,000 people climb Crowders Mountain each year. Park Superintendent Larry Hyde says the last climbing injury happened last May.
