It happened at Munchin Marvins on Hwy 158 near Oxford.
A delivery person discovered the bodies of a man and a woman on the floor of the eatery. They had both been shot.
Detectives said Suzy Gross - the owner of Munching Marvins - was shot by her boyfriend Daniel Matthews. They lived together in a house next to the business. Matthews was in his 20s, Gross was in her early 50s.
Matthews apparently shot Gross then went outside and shot himself.
Their bodies have been taken to the Medical Examiners office in Chapel Hill.
The restaurant was not open when it happened.
