A U.S. Postal inspector alerted the sheriff's office to the discovery. An inspector found marijuana concealed inside a packaged that was shipped from Texas to Roanoke Rapids.
Authorities waited for delivery of the package to a home on Tanner Street and then arrested two men after one of them signed for it.
Officers arrested 27-year-old Amos Crocker Johnson, Jr. of Gaston, NC and 19-year-old Brennon Lamar Banks of Richmond, Va. Both are charged with felony possession of marijuana and possession with intent to manufacture, sale and deliver marijuana.
Officers seized approximately 10 pounds of marijuana that was concealed inside an air tank.
The men were jailed under a $5,000 bond and have a court appearance scheduled for May 5.
