The conservation request initially came Thursday afternoon, after water treatment workers accidentally hit an old pipe, causing it to shift.
They were in the process of installing a new pipe at the time.
Customers in Clayton, Four Oaks, Princeton, and Kenly - about 6,300 residents in all - were affected by the conservation request.
However, no major service disruptions were reoprted.
