Dassreyk Hagans, 18, died Sunday morning after losing control of his car on McNair Road in Edgecombe County between Howard Avenue and Anaconda Road. Hagans graduated from Tarboro High in 2009.
Also in the car was 19-year-old Lesha Moore - who is set to graduate June 12. She is in fair condition at Pitt Memorial Hospital.
Hagans played on the drum line in the Marching Viking Band. Moore is active in art and child care classes.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
