The crash happened around 11:30 p.m. when a motorcycle driven by 23-year-old Patrick Carl Friedhoff hit the back of a SUV driven by 38-year-old Leonarde Benitez. Both drivers were traveling north.
Friedhoff was ejected from the motorcycle. Benitez and the six occupants of his vehicle were not injured.
Investigators say excessive speed was a factor in the wreck, and no charges have been filed.
