Taco Bell employees mistakenly hand over $2,000

DAYTON, OHIO

An employee at a Dayton, Ohio restaurant is being blamed for a major goof-up after handing over the morning deposit -- about $2,000 in cash!

According to the restaurant, that bag of cash should have been handed off to a manager. Taco Bell says it usually has a manager drive-thru to collect the deposit and then take it to the bank.

The worker mistakenly handed it over to a customer who had placed an order. So far, the money has not been returned. The incident happened about a week ago.

Surveillance from the restaurant shows a woman placing her order at the Taco Bell and then pulling up to the window. That's the last time the money was seen.

Police are showing the video in hope that someone will direct the driver back to the restaurant.

Police have not said if they plan to file charges.
