According the Street Maintenance Supervisor Michael Balzarano, the cave-in appears to be caused by a failed storm water line, and may take up to two weeks to repair.
Traffic is being detoured and other water and sewer services to residents in the area have not been affected.
Street maintenance and storm water staff are assessing the damage to determine the repair.
Officials are advising drivers to avoid the area.
