Two other residents, Anthony Wayne Watson and his mother, Ethel Watson, escaped the house. They told authorities their bedrooms were located on the lower level of the house.
The Watson said they escaped the home through a side door after being awakened by heat and flames. They also said they called out to Rudd several times before leaving, but did not get a response from him.
Rudd's body was found downstairs in the living room after firefighters say his bedroom, located above the living room, apparently collapsed. An autopsy is being performed to determine a cause of death.
Authorities do not know what started the fire.
