Authorities look for three people in Kenly murder

KENLY

A spokesperson for the Johnston County Sheriff's Office says deputies are looking for three persons of interest who were seen at James "Tom" Cooper's house near the time of his death.

Authorities say a burgundy, S-10 pickup truck with a light blue fender on the driver's side was spotted at the house. A white female with light colored hair was driving.

A second vehicle is described as a small, red passenger vehicle with no hubcaps. Investigators say a white male with long hair in a pony tail and a white female with light colored hair were in that car.

Investigators released autopsy results for Cooper Thursday. The medical examiner determined he died from blunt force trauma to the head.

Cooper's son found the 80-year-old's body on Tuesday. Cooper lived by himself on Crumpler Road and authorities say his home had been broken into on previous occasions. Authorities have not said if anything was taken from the home Tuesday.

If you have information about the case, call the Johnston County Sheriff's Office at 919-989-5000.
