According to Sheriff Lane Carter, his office received a report about a statutory rape near the Eagle Springs area on June 25.
A 15-year-old girl said an older male solicited her online in a chat room, which led to the incident.
On July 11, sheriff's investigators arrested 27-year-old Juan Guttierez-Guttierez of Star, N.C. He is charged with statutory rape, felony soliciting a child by computer, felony indecent liberties with a child, and sexual battery.
He was placed in the Moore County Detention Center under a $25,000 bond. His first court appearance is scheduled for July 22.
