The Fayetteville Fire Emergency Management Department said the fire was accidental and was contained in the sanctuary area of the church.
It appears the flames began in some speakers located in the ceiling over the pulpit.
Damage was estimated at $15,000.
Church officials said cleanup was already underway and they hoped Sunday services would not be affected.
