Fort Bragg soldier killed in Raleigh wreck

RALEIGH According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, the soldier was transitioning from I-40 eastbound onto US-70 eastbound just before 4:30pm, when he lost control, locked up his brakes, slid to the ground, and struck a nearby guardrail.

He was taken to WakeMed, where he later died.

The Army is attempting to notify next of kin, so there is no word on the identity of the victim.

No other vehicles were involved, and Troopers say alcohol does not appear to have been a factor in the accident.
