Firefighters say they saw flames shooting out a second-story window above the garage when they arrived on scene.
A second alarm was quickly called in to battle the fire - which took just over an hour to extinguish.
All told - about 50 firefighters helped in the effort.
There is no word yet on the cause.
About 75% of the home was damaged.
